World War I

The 66 Ellis Countians who died in World War I were from Bristol (2), Ennis (16), Ferris (5), Griffith Switch (1), Italy (5), Lone Cedar (1), Maypearl (1), Midlothian (8), Milford (2), Oak Branch (1), Palmer (6), Red Oak (1), Rockett (1), Sterrett (1), Trumbull (1) and Waxahachie (14). Most died randomly and violently on foreign soil in the context of combat and war. Their names are engraved on the World War I tablets in the Ellis County Veterans Memorial.
