Biography of Daniel Lattimore Morrel

Milford, Texas

Daniel Morrell was a corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He joined the Corps on April 30, 1917, and trained at Port Royal, South Carolina and Quantico, Virginia. He shipped overseas in September of 1917, and served with the 76th Marines, 2nd Marine Division. He participated in the battles of Belleau Wood and Chateau-Thierry in the Verdun sector in France. He was killed in action on July 19, 1918 during the second battle of Marne near the Marne River in northwestern France.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Morrell of Milford. He is buried in Milford Cemetery. He is listed on the Ellis County Veterans Memorial.
