Biography of John B. "Jack" Thompson
Waxahachie, Texas
Jack Thompson was a captain in the United States Army Air Corps. He served in the 386th Fighter Squadron as a flight commander of P-47 Thunderbolt fighter-bombers in England. He was in the thick of the fighting over Germany since Berlin was first bombed, and broadcast one of his experiences over the BBC in London on June 15, 1944. He was killed in action on August 10, 1944.
He was the son of Rev. and Mrs. H. B. Thompson of Waxahachie. He is buried in Waxahachie City Cemetery. He is listed on the Waxahachie Daily Light Honor Roll, Waxahachie First Methodist Church Honor Roll and the Ellis County Veterans Memorial.
