Biography of David Griffith Stone
Waxahachie, Texas
Davis Stone was an aviation radioman 2nd class in the United States Navy Reserve. He joined the Navy on December 30, 1940. He served with the Atlantic Fleet in an air detachment unit in anti-submarine patrol in the Atlantic and in the Bermuda Islands. He was lost on a patrol mission on June 3, 1942 four hundred miles east of Delaware Bay. The entire crew of the Navy aircraft was lost. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Jefferson Stone of Hewitt, Texas. He was born on October 20, 1921. He attended Waxahachie High School, and lettered in football and basketball. A memorial service was held at Bethel Methodist Church in his honor. He is listed on the Waxahachie Daily Light Honor Roll and the Ellis County Veterans Memorial.
