The Jack Lummus Memorial VFW Post 7106 held their Memorial Day ceremony at the gravesite of Jack Lummus at Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis, Texas. The post was named in honor of Jack on January 8, 1982.
A bouquet of red, white and blue carnations was presented to Zita W. Wright, wife of the nephew of Lieutenant Lummus, by Commander Charles B. Kelker.
Zita is also a sister of Joe Riley Crow who was killed on Iwo Jima along with Jack, James Wesley "Airdale" Goodwin and William Thomas "Dooney" Pierce, Jr., all of the young men grew up in Ennis, and are buried at Myrtle Cemetery.
