Biography of Cyrus M. McCaskill
Ennis, Texas
Cyrus McCaskill was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He entered the Army in February of 1943, and trained at College Station, Camp Roberts near San Luis Obispo, California, Camp McQuaide near Watsonville, California, Fort Benning near Columbus, Georgia, and Camp McCoy near Williams, Wisconsin. He served in England, France, Luxembourg and Germany. He died on March 8, 1945 in Germany.
Cyrus was the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. McCaskill. He graduated Ennis High School, and attended Texas A & M College.
He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, Presidential Citation and Citation from the Governor of Texas.
Cyrus is listed on the Memorial Monument to Ennis War Dead and the Ellis County Veterans Memorial.
