Biography of James W. Johnson

Maypearl, Texas
James Johnson was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He served in Korea with the 7th Mountain Battalion, 1st Marine Division, and died there on February 10, 1952.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Newton Johnson, and born on June 21, 1922. Mrs. Johnson died when he was about 3 years of age. Mr. Johnson did not remarry, and the families of both his mother and father reared James and his older bother David.
James is buried in Maypearl Cemetery. He is listed on the Ellis County Veterans Memorial.
