Biography of Allen Tatum Fowler

Ennis, Texas

Tatum Fowler was a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He entered the Army in 1943, and trained at Fort Sam Houston near San Antonio, Camp Wolters four-miles east of Mineral Wells and Fort Benning adjacent to Columbus, Georgia. He served in England and France, participated in the Normandy Invasion. He was wounded in Normandy, and killed in action on July 13, 1944 in France.

Tatum was the son of Mrs. Irene Fowler of Ennis. He graduated Ennis High School and Texas A & M College. 

He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.

He is listed under Gold Star on Tabernacle Baptist Church Honor Roll in Ennis, the Memorial Monument to Ennis War Dead and the Ellis County Veterans Memorial.
