Wreath Laying Ceremony

Mrs. Zita Crow Wright--Austin
Zita W. (Crow) Wright was selected for the wreath laying ceremony on Ellis County Veterans Appreciation Day 2005. She is a niece by marriage of 1st Lt. Jack Lummus, and a sister of Sergeant Joe Riley Crow.
Four young men from Ennis, Ellis County, Texas died in the battle for Iwo Jima. Joe was the first to die on February 20. Jack was the second on March 8. PFC James Wesley "Airdale" Goodwin died on March 9. Sergeant William Thomas "Dooney" Pierce, Jr. on March 13, 1945.
